1. Our principles
Bastah is a marketplace built on trust between people. These guidelines are part of the Terms of Use, and they apply to every store, product, chat, review and photo.
- Respect: treat others the way you’d like to be treated.
- Honesty: show what you sell as it really is, and review based on a real experience.
- Safety: nothing that puts people’s health, money or privacy at risk.
2. Rules for everyone
Anywhere on Bastah, the following is not allowed:
- Abuse, harassment, threats or bullying.
- Hate speech, or discrimination based on religion, origin, gender, disability or anything else.
- Sexual, explicit or violent content.
- Repeated unwanted messages (spam) or intrusive advertising.
- Impersonating any person, store or organization, including the Bastah team.
- Sharing anyone’s personal data without their permission, such as their phone number, address or photos.
- Fraud, or asking for card details, passwords or sign-in codes. The Bastah team will never ask you for your sign-in code.
- Any content that breaks Jordanian law or infringes intellectual property rights.
3. Rules for stores
- A real name and logo: don’t use the name or logo of a brand you don’t own or aren’t authorized to use.
- Honest photos: photos of your actual products, or ones that honestly represent them, without misleading about size, quality or color.
- Clear prices: the price on Bastah is what you actually charge. If it’s a “from” price, say so.
- Availability: keep each product’s status up to date (available, made to order, or unavailable).
- Used items: allowed, as long as the word “used” appears clearly in the product name or description, together with its condition and any defects.
- Home-made food: cleanliness and food safety, suitable packaging, stating the ingredients and common allergens (such as nuts, milk, wheat and eggs) when asked, and holding the required licenses.
- Cosmetics and perfumes: genuine and registered where required, and never presenting a copy as the original.
- Replying and keeping your word: reply to your customers reasonably, and keep what you agree on.
4. Rules for reviews
- Review based on a real experience with the store or the product.
- No fake reviews, no reviewing your own store, and no payment or discount in exchange for a review.
- Criticize the product or the service, not the person. No insults and no personal information.
- A seller’s reply is public and respectful, and never contains a threat or reveals the customer’s information.
5. Prohibited products
The following may not be listed, sold or promoted, even if selling them is allowed with a license outside Bastah:
- Alcohol of any kind.
- Tobacco in all its forms: cigarettes, shisha tobacco, e-cigarettes and vapes, their liquids and parts.
- Live animals of any kind, and products from endangered species (such as ivory).
- Weapons and ammunition and their parts, knives and blades intended to harm, stun devices, fireworks and explosives.
- Drugs and psychoactive substances, the tools for using them, and any substance banned by law.
- Medicines of any kind, unregistered supplements and medical products, and products that claim to cure diseases.
- Counterfeit or fake products, or products that infringe trademarks or copyright.
- Stolen goods, or any product of unknown origin.
- Sexual content and products, and pornographic material.
- Official documents, ID cards and certificates, and any product or service for forging them.
- Personal data, lists of phone numbers, stolen or hacked digital accounts, and pirated software.
- Spying and eavesdropping devices, and hacking tools.
- Financial services: currency exchange, cryptocurrencies, loans, lotteries and gambling.
- Hazardous materials: dangerous or toxic chemicals, and products recalled from the market.
- Used items banned for health reasons: used underwear, opened or used cosmetics, and opened food.
- Human organs or body fluids.
- Any product or service banned by Jordanian law, or that encourages hatred or violence.
This list isn’t exhaustive. Bastah may refuse any product it believes puts users at risk or goes against the spirit of these guidelines.
6. What happens when rules are broken
Depending on how serious the violation is and whether it’s repeated, the Bastah team may do one or more of the following:
- Warn the account owner.
- Hide the product, review or content that breaks the rules.
- Refuse the store or its changes.
- Temporarily suspend the store or the account.
- Delete the store or close the account.
- Inform the relevant authorities when the law requires it or when someone is in danger.
We’ll tell you the reason in a notification or through “Bastah Support”, and you can appeal through “Bastah Support” or at [email protected].
7. How to report
- A store or product: the report button on the store or product page.
- A message: long-press the message in the chat.
- A user or seller in a chat: from the chat’s menu.
- A review: the report button on the review.
- Anything else: “Bastah Support” in the app, or [email protected].
The Bastah team reviews every report. A report on a message lets only an authorized staff member open that chat to check it, and who opened it and why is logged, as the Privacy Policy explains.
